Pep Guardiola Claims Manchester City Are Still 'Far Away' From Competing With Europe's Elite

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that his team's lack of experience and current mentality means they are 'far away' from competing with the biggest sides in European football.

Ever since billionaire Sheikh Mansour took up ownership of the club in 2008, City have struggled to establish themselves on the European stage, with last season's Champions League semi-final finish the closest the Citizens have come to conquering club football's biggest prize.

With just the FA Cup left to play for this season, Guardiola's team have largely failed to compete for major trophies once again this year and were eliminated from the Champions League last-16 stage by Monaco.

As reports continue to suggest that Guardiola will look to overhaul his squad at the end of the season, the City boss has hinted that his current crop of players aren't good enough to compete against the best sides and that they remain a long way from becoming a European heavyweight.
