Georginio Wijnaldum welcomes having to fight for his Liverpool place

Georginio Wijnaldum has said he relishes increased competition in Liverpool’s midfield and never entertained the idea of leaving Anfield this summer.

The Dutch international carried his fine pre-season form into Sunday’s 4-0 win over West Ham as Jürgen Klopp’s team recorded the biggest opening day win at Anfield since 1932.
