Socceroos' goalless draw in Honduras leaves World Cup hopes in balance

• Australia draw 0-0 with Honduras at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano
• Qualification goes down to wire in next week’s final match in Sydney

An impressive performance, quite possibly their best away from home under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, in difficult conditions resulted in a goalless draw with Honduras that leaves all to play for in the Socceroos’ bid to qualify for a fourth consecutive World Cup finals.

In the cauldron of the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, and on an appalling pitch wholly unsuitable for such a high-stakes match, the Socceroos held firm in defence against a pacy, if ultimately toothless, Honduran side.
